Data Collected:
- Per-scat statistics:
- Scat ID (string): A unique identifier for each scat.
- Song Correct (boolean): Indicates whether the song name was guessed correctly.
- Artist Correct (boolean): Indicates whether the artist was guessed correctly.
- Anonymous Firebase ID:
- Anonymous ID (string): A randomly generated Firebase Authentication ID used to group stats for the same browser profile across visits.
No name, email address, or other directly identifying information is collected. The anonymous ID is persistent for this browser profile, but does not identify you personally.
Per-scat results are saved in Firebase Firestore under the anonymous ID. Each scat has one latest result for song and artist correctness; submitting that scat again replaces its previous result rather than creating an attempt history. These stats are not automatically restored in the game; you can choose to load them from the stats popup.
Local Data Storage:
We use browser storage for certain preferences and anonymous sign-in state. Specifically:
- Opt-Out Preference: Your choice to opt out of data collection is saved locally to ensure it persists across page reloads.
- Firebase Authentication State: Firebase stores the anonymous sign-in state in the browser so the same browser profile can access the same saved stats on a later visit. The stats themselves are stored in Firebase, not in browser storage.
Clearing this site's browser storage or using another browser or device may result in a new anonymous ID, so previously saved stats may no longer be accessible.
You can clear local browser data at any time through your browser settings. This does not delete stats already saved in Firebase.
Current Purpose of Data:
- Provide insights on scat difficulty
- Advise adjustments to existing and future scats
- Improve scat quality
Potential Future Purposes of Data:
- Categorize scats into difficulties
- Communicate average score to users
- Construct an anonymous leaderboard
Data Retention:
Saved per-scat stats are retained in Firebase for analysis purposes. They are not automatically deleted when you opt out or clear browser storage. Aggregated data may be stored indefinitely to improve game quality and insights.
Data Usage and Access:Unauthorized scraping or automated data extraction from this site is prohibited.

User Rights:
The settings menu has a one-click opt-out toggle that disables future stat reads and writes in the game. This can be enabled or disabled at any time.
